Every election cycle you will usually see an "October Surprise". Something, typically negative about a candidate pops up at the last minute and can often affect the outcome of the election. Many people wonder what kind of October surprise could be coming up this election season.
The Bible says in 1 Chronicles 12 that the Sons of Issachar knew the times and they knew what Israel should do. We are in a season and a time frame where we cannot be surprised at what the enemy is doing on the earth. At the same time, we should not be surprised by what God is doing on Earth. I believe the pandemic and the way the church handled it as a whole caught many of us by surprise. Let’s seek the face of God and be ready as soldiers in the army of the Lord, to do all God has called us to do in this season.

Celebration Dinner:
What a wonderful Celebration Dinner we had just this last week! We heard from Karin Flositz, the CEO of Community Partnership For Children, LaKeesha, a foster mom who was blessed by receiving items from CarePortal, and Amber Fortner, a foster care ministry leader at Grace Community Church as she shared an experience she had delivering items to a single mom with two children from a domestic violence situation. Thanks to all of the churches who are enrolled in the CarePortal Network in Volusia/Flagler counties. CarePortal could not work without YOU!

National Adoption Month:
In honor of National Adoption Month coming up in November, purchase copies of Am I Special? by Stephen Hogue. It is a wonderfully illustrated book that teaches kids about the amazing world of adoption. It focuses on one day in the life of a precious little girl named Josie. Josie is five years old and learning new things every day. She learned from her family that ordinary things around the house are "special." After finding out what special means, she wonders if she is special because she was adopted. She comes to find out that she wasn't abandoned; she was chosen.
Stand Sunday, 2022:
Stand Sunday is a day created for churches to acknowledge foster children and was launched out of Orphan Sunday, the historical day of commemorating orphans all over the world. It’s a day for Christians to be made aware of the plight of the orphan and given ways to get involved. Each event is locally-led. Sermons and small groups, concerts and prayer gatherings, shared meals and youth activities—each rousing believers with God’s call to care for the orphan, and what we can do in response.
